Phoenix
Enthronement Commemorative Maki-e Fountain Pen "Phoenix"
A limited edition of 800 fountain pens commemorating the enthronement of the emperor.
Using the Chinese mythological legendary bird "Phoenix" as a motif, Kokkokai, a group of lacquer artists, beautifully and gorgeously expressed it.
[What is Kokkokai?]
Mr. Gonroku Matsuda, a Living National Treasure and the highest authority on maki-e, organized a group of 80 maki-e artists inside and outside the company. This was the beginning of Kokkokai. Kokkokai not only contributed greatly to the advancement of maki-e technology, but also became the driving force behind the world's attention for the Maki-e fountain pens made by PILOT. Today, an excellent maki-e artist who inherited the technique of Mr. Gonroku Matsuda is active, and his work bears the inscription "Kokkokai".
