Sailor 115th Anniversary Fountain Pen HIROSHIMA - Momiji
Serial Number: 0101 (Limited Edition of 1,150 Pieces)
HIROSHIMA Momiji is a limited-edition fountain pen created to commemorate Sailor's 115th anniversary, incorporating materials and traditional craftsmanship from Hiroshima.
From the woodworking of the pen itself to the instruction manual, packaging, paper materials, traditional handmade washi, and the Bingo Kasuri fabric used for the single-pen pouch, this edition brings together Hiroshima's craftspeople and materials, with a focus on the region in every detail.
The emblem of Higashihiroshima City features a fountain pen nib, a symbol of learning, alongside imagery expressing the city's aspirations for the future.
This connection between Higashihiroshima, whose emblem includes a pen nib, and Sailor, which has been making fountain pens in Hiroshima for 115 years, inspired a special pen befitting the company's anniversary.
The presentation box includes a single-pen pouch made from traditional Hiroshima Bingo Kasuri fabric, an origami crane ornament crafted using yosegi woodwork, and a leaflet with a cover made from handmade washi incorporating recycled origami cranes.
Momiji (Japanese Maple)
A fountain pen that showcases the strength and finely textured grain of Hiroshima's prefectural tree, polished to a lustrous finish.
Momiji (Japanese maple) is Hiroshima Prefecture's designated tree and flower. Designated in 1966, it was chosen because maples are widely found throughout the prefecture and at many of its well-known scenic locations.
The designation encompasses various maple species. Momiji also lends its name to momiji manju, a maple-leaf-shaped confection that is a famous souvenir of Hiroshima, particularly Miyajima.
The pen's body is made from Japanese maple, Hiroshima's prefectural tree. The fine grain of wood grown in Hiroshima's mountains is brought out through careful polishing and an oil finish.
