A supreme photographic collection of temple pilgrimages, told through the masterpieces of Ken Domon

Ken Domon, the giant of realist photography.
Now available is an accessible edition of the long-awaited, ultra-luxurious photo collection Ken Domon (published by Shogakukan in 2021).

Maintaining the same exceptional image quality, this edition comes in a more portable format, allowing readers to fully appreciate the ultimate beauty of nature and the countless Buddhist statues of historic temples in Japan’s ancient capitals. This is truly a permanent collector’s edition.

The book includes Domon’s own words, along with explanatory texts introducing National Treasures, Important Cultural Properties, and World Heritage sites—offering valuable insight into rediscovering Japan.

All text is presented in both Japanese and English, making it an ideal gift for international readers or as a souvenir from Japan.

For approximately 40 years, Shogakukan has published Ken Domon’s photographic works. Beginning with The Complete Works of Ken Domon (13 volumes), published in 1983 to commemorate the opening of the Ken Domon Museum of Photography in his hometown of Sakata (Yamagata Prefecture), the publisher has released nearly 50 photography collections.

Approximately five years after the publication of the monumental deluxe edition Ken Domon (B2 size, 284 pages, ¥320,000, with separate Japanese–English commentary volume; ISBN 978-409-682356-9), this new edition has been released in response to strong and enthusiastic demand from readers.
