The snow melts from the mountains of Tohoku.
The landscape slowly transforms — distant greens, nearby greens —
as rice planting begins.

It’s the season that bridges the freshness of spring and the warmth of summer,
a signal of change carried by the color green.

This ink is inspired by Tohoku’s lush mountains and rich rural scenery,
capturing the feeling of renewal and growth that marks the start of the season.

About TOHOKU BASIC INK

A collection themed around the seasonal transitions of Tohoku — a region in the northeastern part of Japan — from winter to spring, and spring to early summer, expressing the fleeting beauty of these shifting moments in color.

A collaborative project formed by stationery stores from all six prefectures of Tohoku, under the concept of “Sharing the charm of Tohoku through stationery.”
Since 2020, the group has developed various products that draw interest to the region, including collaborations with mizutama, an illustrator based in Yamagata.
