Briar

[Wood characteristics] This is a high-quality wood obtained from the roots of trees. It is extremely hard and durable, and is one of the most flame-resistant of all woods. It has the straight grain and fine bump pattern that are characteristic of briar.

[Main uses] Often used for walking sticks and smoking pipes.

[Finishing method] Raw lacquer finish that changes over time.
